Singer and producer Park Jinyoung has personally addressed allegations that the religious group he leads, "First Fruits", is a cult or a heretical sect.
On the 3rd, a video featuring a lecture by Park Jinyoung was released on the "First Fruits" YouTube channel.
In the video, Park spoke about a difficult period he experienced in the past.
"When I turned 40, for the first time, things didn't go the way I wanted," he said. "Before that, even if I failed, I would just keep trying, and eventually, things would work out. That’s how I lived for 40 years."
He continued, "Because of that, I didn't feel a need for God. But when I reached 40, I faced a desperate situation for the first time, and I didn't know what to do. Having lost my self-confidence, I turned to God."
He then addressed the allegations that "First Fruits" is a cult or a heretical group.
"We have begun to face significant persecution, with people labeling us a cult or a heretical group," Park said. "We won't resolve this by taking matters into our own hands. It will be resolved in the right way, at the right moment."
He stated, "This is not something to be resolved by debating doctrine or organizing a coordinated effort to post comments," adding, "Avoiding persecution from heretical or pseudo-religious groups is not something that can be achieved through our own efforts. The resolution to such matters lies entirely in God’s hands."
Meanwhile, in 2018, Park Jinyoung became embroiled in a controversy regarding his alleged involvement with a pseudo-religious group, following claims that he was a follower of the 'Salvation Sect' and had even led their gatherings. At the time, he denied being a member of the Salvation Sect.
